Norkem Park CPF Sector 1 is a community-powered safety structure committed to protecting and uplifting the neighbourhood we call home.
Working alongside SAPS, private security, neighbourhood groups, and our residents, we strive to build a sector where safety, visibility, and unity come first.
A Community Policing Forum (CPF) is designed to strengthen cooperation between the community and SAPS. Its features ensure that residents have a voice, play an active role in crime prevention, and work together with law-enforcement partners to create safer neighbourhoods.
Sector 1 represents all residents within our boundaries—homeowners, complexes, businesses, schools, religious institutions, and community groups within Birchleigh, Edleen and Van Riebeeck Park.
Our CPF ensures that the voices and concerns of Sector 1 residents are heard, acknowledged, and acted upon when shaping safety priorities.
Sector 1 works side by side with Norkem Park SAPS. Through regular communication and operational cooperation, we:
Share crime patterns and concerns
Support sector policing plans
Assist SAPS during operations and emergencies
Provide eyes and ears across the sector
This partnership strengthens policing effectiveness and improves safety for everyone.
Patrollers are the heartbeat of our CPF. These volunteers are residents of Sector 1 who proudly give their time to help protect the community.
Our patrollers:
Conduct visible vehicle and foot patrols
Report suspicious activity and potential threats
Assist SAPS during incidents and road accidents
Support residents during emergencies
Provide additional visibility during peak crime times
Uphold professionalism, discipline, and community respect
Highly committed and trained in safety protocols, our patrollers serve as a trusted presence in our community—day and night.
Norkem Park CPF Sector 1 launches and supports initiatives that target the unique safety challenges in our area.
These include:
School visibility and scholar safety support
Hotspot patrols and targeted operations
Support during load-shedding when crime risks increase
Assistance to vulnerable residents, such as the elderly
Collaboration with neighbourhood groups, businesses, and security companies
Every project aims to make Sector 1 safer, more connected, and more resilient.
Clear communication is one of our biggest strengths.
Sector 1 maintains:

Based on elected leadership and clear roles
We keep residents informed, encourage participation, and welcome new volunteers.
To maintain high standards, Sector 1 patrollers receive continuous training in:
